Marvin was a hit-man, working also for different gangs such as 'The Americans' and the 'Junior Mafia' between the age of 15 and 19. • A picture of Shri Sai Baba, a famous Indian Guru, is seen on the wall of Budhia Singh?s house situated inside Salia Sahi slum (pop. 30.000) of Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa State, on Saturday, May 17, 2008. On May 1, 2006, Budhia completed a record breaking 65 km run from Jagannath temple, Puri to Bhubaneswar. He was accompanied by his coach Biranchi Das and by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). On 8th May 2006, a Government statement had ordered that he stopped running. The announcement came after doctors found the boy had high blood pressure and cardiological stress. As of 13th August 2007 Budhia's coach Biranchi Das was arrested by Indian police on suspicion of torture. Singh has accused his coach of beating him and withholding food. Das says Singh's family are making up charges as a result of a few petty rows. On April 13, Biranchi Das was shot dead in Bhubaneswar, in what is believed to be an event unconnected with Budhia, although the police is investigating the case and has made an arrest, a local goon named Raja Archary, which is now in police custody. **Italy and China Out**

  • Iron Braydz, 26, is pointing to a gas mask graffiti painted on the wall of his living room in Willesden, London, on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007. Islamic Hip Hop artists like the duo 'Blind Alphabetz', from London, feel more than ever the need to say what they think aloud. In the music industry the backlash of a disputable Western foreign policy towards Islamic countries and its people is strong. The number of artists in the European Union and the US taking this into consideration and addressing the current social and political problems within their lyrics is growing rapidly and fostering awareness for Muslim and others alike.

  • Zil, 23, from Poland, is running up the stairs leading to his room in the Wildwood Road mansion on Sunday, July 1, 2007, in Hampstead, London, England. Old posters from GlenTree, a property agent, are affixed on the wall picturing the mansion in its best conditions and ready to be sold. Situated opposite Hampstead Heath, North London's green jewel the average price for properties on this road reaches £ 2,500,000. Million Dollar Squatters is a documentary project in the lives of a peculiar group of squatters residing in three multi-million mansions in one of the classiest residential neighbourhoods of London, Hampstead Garden. The squatters' enthusiasm, their constant efforts to look after what has become their home, their ingenuity and adventurous spirit have all inspired me throughout the days and nights spent at their side. Between the fantasy world of exclusive Britain and the reality of squatting in London, I have been a witness to their unique story. While more than 100.000 properties in London still lay empty to this day, squatting provides a valid, and lawful alternative to paying Europe's most expensive rent prices, as well as offering the challenge of an adventurous lifestyle in the capital.

  • Miners are inspecting the underground coal wall at the Unity Mine complex, on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Cwmgwrach, Vale of Neath, South Wales. The time is ripe again for an unexpected revival of the coal industry in the Vale of Neath due to the increasing prize and diminishing reserves of oil and gas, the uncertainties of renewable energy sources, and the technological advancement in producing energy from coal while limiting emissions of pollutants, has created the basis for valuable investment opportunities and a possible alternative to the latest energy crisis. Unity Mine, in particular, has started a pioneering effort to revive the coal industry in the area, reopening after more than 8 years with the intent of exploiting the large resources still buried underground. Coal could be then answer to both, access to cheaper and paradoxically greener energy and a better and safer choice than nuclear energy as a major supply for the decades to come. It is estimated that coal reserves in Wales amount to over 250 million tonnes, or the equivalent of at least 50 years of energy supply, while the worldwide total coal could last for over 200 years as a viable resource compared to only a few decades of oil and natural gas...

  • Pictures of Cecileís graduation and master degree are hanging from the wall in her living room on Sunday, 10 June, 2006, in Camden Town, London, England. Cecile, 31, a French woman from Avignon, lives in London since 14 years and is one of the members in the Vampyre Connexion committee. The Vampyre Connexion is the largest and most active of all the vampire groups in the United Kingdom, counting more than 100 members that for years have gathered regularly in London to share their common love for vampires and the Dark side of life. The Connexion raised from the hashes of the Vampyre Society, the first vampire appreciation group in 1995. The group believe in the fantasy of vampires and such creatures and live it to the full. Its roots are to be found in the legends of Bram Stokerís Dracula. The group prints its own magazine, ëDark Nightsí featuring drawings, poetry, stories, photography and events. All of the members dress very peculiar clothing, and this is a very important part of the life of the group; it is respected with pride, taste and accuracy for the detail. Most like to dress to be elegant in a range of styles from regency to Victorian, some sew their own. In addition members visit art galleries, cemeteries, churches and cathedrals, attend gigs and concerts, and hold their own parties throughout the year, Halloween being the biggest and scariest one. Membership is open to all, the only qualification: being a love of all things Vampyric.**ItalyOut**

  • In the early morning, a lone boy is standing by Hindu writing on a wall near Sersiya Kekrahi village, Varanasi District, Uttar Pradesh, India. In 2012, Kanchan (name changed) went with a friend to bring lunch to her father, around 2 km away from her home. On the way they met Rajesh (rapist) and Ashok, a friend of his. Both girls were picked up on the spot using an excuse. Ashok drove Kanchan's friend home, but Rajesh forced Kanchan to travel with him during six days and for hundreds of kilometres across different states. (Mirzapur / Chennai / Itarsi / Bhusawal) He raped her once behind the station in Itarsi. With great effort and some coincidence, the uncle of Kanchan managed to bring her back home. Although she was scared, she insisted on going to the police to file a case (FIR). She was kept at the police station for 12 days and threatened to prevent her from filing an official case. Ashok and Rajesh are from higher caste and wealthy families. While Rajesh spent 24 days in jail initially in summer 2012, he is now a free man while the trial is still going on. Kanchan's family is now struggling to put together 30.000 Indian Rupees (500 USD) to continue battling for justice in court.

  • Abu Ali, a 69-years-old Bedouin man is standing near his home in the unrecognised village of Sararat, in West Bank zone C (Israeli controlled), close to Jerusalem, the capital of the country. The Israeli government is forcing him to move from a land he lives in since 50 years. Part of the separation wall aimed at protecting the large Jewish settlements in the area has been planned to pass trough his propriety. Numbering around 200.000 in Israel, the Bedouins constitute the native ethnic group of these areas, they farm, grow wheat, olives and live in complete self sufficiency. Many of them were in these lands long before the Israeli State was created and their traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle is now threatened by Governmental policies.
