Khadim, 72, is portrayed at the entrance of his cave. During the years Khadim's family has been able to build some walls around the original cave and make it a more comfortable home, in Bamyan, central Afghanistan, an area mostly populated by Hazaras. A historically persecuted minority (15%) due to more lenient Islamic faith and characteristic 'Eastern' lineaments, Hazaras constitute the 70% of Bamyan's population.
