Three women are carrying goods on a road leading towards the abandoned evaporation pool (right) that was once used by Union Carbide (now DOW Chemical) next to their industrial complex, site of the infamous 1984 gas tragedy in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, central India. The poisonous cloud that enveloped Bhopal left everlasting consequences that today continue to consume people's lives. Thousands tons of hazardous chemical waste are still buried in various spots around this area of Bhopal.
