The Vampyre Connexion (VC) is the largest and most active of all the vampire groups in the United Kingdom, counting more than 100 members that for many years have gathered regularly in London to share their common love for vampires and the Dark side of life. The Connexion raised from the hashes of the Vampyre Society, (VS) one of the first vampire appreciation groups in 1995. Following the demise of the Vampyre Society a few keen members decided not to let it die, and like a phoenix the Vampyre Connexion was born.
From the early beginning the philosophy was one of friendship, to build a strong family of vampire lovers where everyone is welcome. There are no initiation ceremonies and all members are equal, although a committee is present within the group and Colin, 62, one of the founding member, is considered the be the Vampire Master.
The group believe in the fantasy of vampires and such creatures and live it to the full. Its roots are to be found in the legends of Bram Stoker?s Dracula.
The VC is also a literary group and members enjoy books and short stories, while some are also publishing authors. The group prints its own magazine, ?Dark Nights? featuring drawings, poetry, stories, photography and events. All of the members dress very peculiar clothing, and this is a very important part of the life of the group; it is respected with pride, taste and accuracy for the detail. Most members like to dress to be elegant in a range of styles from regency to Victorian.
The VC is Gothic, not a ?Goth? group, its interests are in the whole range of the Dark side and beyond. In addition to this the members visit art galleries, cemeteries, churches and cathedrals, attend gigs and concerts, plays with a dark or vampiric theme and hold their own parties, Halloween being of course the biggest and scariest one.
